Multi-purpose Ro-Ro passenger ferry for the transportation of passengers, cars, busses and road trailers in domestic national traffic in Icelandic waters in sea area category B. The ferry is designed and optimized for the operation on the route between Vestmannaeyjar and Landeyjahöfn. 

The weather conditions are dominated by mixture of long ocean waves and shorter local waves generated by the wind. In heavy weather situations the waves are breaking on both the sandbank outside of the harbour and the harbour itself. Inside the channel just outside the breakwater, a current is going transversal on the entry of the harbour, the current can go either eastbound or westbound. 

The ferry is designed for shallow waters and shallow draft, water depth of 4.5 m at the entrance of Landeyjahöfn.
