Polarkonsult AS has assisted Troms County Municipality in planning and carrying out the tender process for a new training vessel for Nord-Troms Upper Secondary School. The company will also carry out construction supervision throughout the entire building phase and during the warranty period.<\/p>

The vessel will be built by Selfa Arctic AS at the shipyard\u2019s facility at R\u00f8dskj\u00e6r outside Harstad and will have its home port in Skjerv\u00f8y. The contract has a value of NOK 50.5 million excluding VAT.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Assistant County Director of Education Bj\u00f8rn-Inge Thomasjord of Troms County Municipality highlights the importance of the professional support:<\/p>

A modern and forward-looking training vessel<\/strong><\/h1>

The new vessel will be a single-hull vessel measuring just under 15 meters. It will be built in composite (GRP) with certain details in aluminium and will be outfitted for two teachers and up to 15 students.<\/p>

The propulsion system will be hybrid, with an electric motor and a diesel engine, where electricity is the primary energy carrier. The battery capacity allows for extended periods of fully electric operation, both during sailing and work operations, giving students experience with modern and more environmentally friendly maritime technology.<\/p>

Compared to traditional diesel operation, electric propulsion will result in an estimated annual emission reduction of approximately 100 tonnes of CO\u2082. The estimated construction period is 20 months.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Secure project execution<\/strong><\/h1>

For Polarkonsult, the project is an example of the company\u2019s core competence in maritime procurements, technical specification work, contract follow-up, construction supervision, and quality assurance.<\/p>
