Inclining Test on Offshore Service Vessel Stril Luna<\/b>
<\/span>
<\/span>Polarkonsult recently conducted an inclining test on the offshore vessel <\/span>Stril Luna<\/b> at Harstad Mek. Verksted (Hamek). The test was commissioned after the crew of Stril Luna noticed a significant weight discrepancy of between 200 and 300 tons and wanted to determine the source of these deviations.<\/span><\/p>

To obtain the most accurate results, the test was performed in the dock at Hamek. The <\/span>Marine Control Department<\/b> of Polarkonsult carried out the inclining test to determine the vessel’s actual center of gravity and stability. Present during the test were Captain Kristoffer from Stril Luna, Engineer Ole Andreassen, Steffen Luther from Polarkonsult, and Kai Egil Olsen from Kongsberg. The inclining test confirmed the necessary data for continued safe operations.<\/span><\/p>

Stril Luna<\/b> is a modern offshore service vessel owned by Simon M\u00f8kster Shipping. The vessel is designed for operations in the oil and gas industry, including supply, standby emergency response, and rescue missions. Measuring approximately 86 meters in length, it is equipped with advanced systems for safety and maneuverability.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Why Can a Vessel Experience Unexpected Weight Increase?<\/strong><\/h3>

  1. Modifications and Rebuilds:<\/b> Vessels often undergo upgrades over time, leading to an increase in weight.

  2. Accumulation of Ballast Water and Sediments:<\/b> Sediments in ballast tanks can accumulate, adding unanticipated extra weight.

  3. Condensation and Water Ingress:<\/b> Small leaks can gradually lead to a significant weight increase in tanks and compartments.

  4. Storage of Equipment and Supplies:<\/b> Additional equipment on board can increase the weight if not regularly monitored.
